art, particularly studies of hand written books, in their broadest context, and at academic level. <br \/>The research focus should be on the Classical, Medieval and Early Modern periods (i.e., approx. 200-1550, i.e., European culture).<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p><strong>The research field<\/strong><br \/>The research field is understood to be:<br \/>\u2022 Research of materials and techniques of\/with which books and covers are made, and their restoration.<br \/>\u2022 The study of handwritten letters (palaeography), and of handwritten books (codicology), including their possible relationship to printed forms of later periods.<br \/>\u2022 The study of the organization of scriptoria and\/or workshops, including their relationship with commissioners and buyers.<br \/>\u2022 The study of book and text collections, from the Middle Ages and from later periods.<br \/>\u2022 Research to the relationship between text and image, or, of the reasons for any lack of such relationship.<br \/>\u2022\u00a0 The relationship between book illustration (miniatures), and other forms of pictorial art, such as the art of panel paintings, wall paintings, arts and crafts, and sculpture.<br \/>\u2022 Research of the reception history of handwritten books and texts, and\/or books during the Middle Ages and thereafter.<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p>The Foundation shall pursue its objectives among others by the financial support of the production of articles and exhibition catalogues pertaining to the research field, as well as financial support for researchers active in this field. The appointments of private chairs are among the possibilities.<\/p><p><br \/>The Foundation shall manage its funds such, that annually as large a sum as is reasonable may be invested into the research field.
